This project was very personal for me. As an man of African Heritage, I often feel like our natural beauty is overlooked by the world. Our dark skin and broad facial features have been subjected to appropriation by other cultures while deemed the authentic people undesirable. I wanted to create images that shine a light on the beautiful people of African heritage living here in Japan. We are not invisible. We matter. And we are DEFINITELY BEAUTIFUL!
