MY VERY FIRST PHOTOSHOOT
These are the first images I ever shot as a self proclaimed photographer, and how lucky I was to accidentally come across a talented and open minded model who also happened to be a Miss Universe Japan finalist for my very first attempt.
The story of how I met her is equally as amazing as the model herself. I walked down to the local KFC near my home in Tsuzuki-Ku, Yokohama.
As I sat down to eat, in walked this exceptionally tall and attractive young woman with her mother. After ordering their meal, they sat at a table near mine. At the time, we were the only people in the restaurant.
As I am normally quite shy, this worked out perfectly for me as I seriously doubt I would have approached them if the restaurant had been crowded. Right time, right place.
After some time had passed, I worked up the nerves to go over and introduce myself. I had already mentally prepared myself to be rejected or at least receive pushback from the mother. To my surprise, the mother was the one who convinced the daughter to have a photoshoot with me. My jaw dropped as the daughter was hesitant, but her mother was the one pushing for her take a chance! To this day I still can’t believe how things transpired in that initial contact.
I don’t remember what day of the week it was, but as they both lived near by, we shot in my “apartment studio” merely a few days later. Below are the surprising results and the studio I shot her in.
What a fortunate and amazing start to a career that has now lasted over 10 years, taken me around the world and allowed me to continue to meet and work with some incredible people.
I will ALWAYS be thankful to Megumi and her awesome Mama. ❤️🙏🏾
